DESCRIPTION: The Basset Hound University Tracking with a Basset Hound (Course #401) is designed to give the information and experience necessary to pass all levels of tracking tests. The course begins with a discussion on how to earn a Tracking Dog title (TD), which can help lay the ground work for earning the advanced titles of Tracking Dog Excellent (TDX) as well as Variable Surface Tracking Dog (VST). 
 

TABLE OF CONTENTS:

Three textbooks are included in this course.  They are:

(1) Tracking form the Ground Up by Sandy Ganz and Sue Boyd. Revised edition.  Show Me Publications, 1992.

(2) Tracking with a Basset Hound (Video & booklet)
by Ruth Paule. Ruth is a pioneer in the sport of tracking and her methods are very helpful.

(3) AKC Tracking Regulations Booklet
 

Workbook exercises accompany the textbooks. Also part of the Tracking with a Basset Hound course is a “hands-on” workshop component which requires students to keep a journal or diary of each tracking session. Names and addresses of evaluators for both the workbook questions and journal are included. 

In addition to the required textbooks, several helpful articles by tracking expert, Craig Green, are also included as well as an article on tips for Variable Surface Tracking. 
 

CD TEMPLATE: The CD Template for this course is in Powerpoint and is designed to be copied by anyone who wishes to design a similar course for any other tracking breed of dog.
